History

Committed to Education

Josephine M. Cojuangco National Technical Vocational High School, formerly Mayantoc National Technical Vocational High School, situated at Poblacion Norte, Mayantoc, Tarlac, the newly created tech voc school in Region III and the first public vocational high school in the town proper of Mayantoc, is on its 6th year of operation this S.Y. 2018–2019. It was established by the virtue of RA 10268 approved in Congress on July 24, 2012 through the initiative of Hon. Congressman Enrique M. Cojuangco of the First Congressional District of Tarlac.

The school site has an area of 10, 009 square meters acquired by the virtue of Deed of Donation of the Municipal Government on its Transfer Certificate of Title No. 42577 on March 15, 2011 signed and represented by Hon. Mayor Iluminado E. Pobre Jr. (LGU) and Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Antonieta B. Tiotuico (DepEd).

The parcel of land currently owned by the school was originally donated to the Municipality of Mayantoc by the former owner Don Francisco Pascual Santos and wife Donia Ana Verzosa on December 23, 2016 with the agreement that land donation will only be used for the establishment of public high school.

The advocacy of establishing public high school in the town proper had started in 1993 and years after but all the attempts had failed. It was only on November 15, 2012 where this dream was realized when RA 10268 was signed by Pres. Benigno S. Aquino III establishing the Mayantoc National Technical Vocational High School in Mayantoc, Tarlac.

On March 6, 2013, Resolution No. 16-2013 of Sanguniang Bayan was approved, renaming the school to Josephine M. Cojuangco National Technical Vocational High School in honor of Josephine M. Cojuangco, mother of Hon. Congressman Enrique M. Cojuangco, as a sign of gratitude for the esteemed Congressman’s undeterred support for this project’s realization.

On June 3, 2013, the actual operation had started with 55 Grade 7 students, 3 LSB Teachers and Dr. Nelia Y. Andres as the First Principal. The school was temporarily housed at Mayantoc Central Elementary School while there is no school building yet. Persistent request for the school buildings and teacher items have done by the administration.

Finally on June 1, 2015 the two storey building with ten classrooms was established and occupied by 250 students and 9 teachers. Over the years, the school continues to progress in terms of facilities, equipment, and teacher and student population. Currently, the school has two sets of two-storey building with ten and six classrooms, respectively. It has a mobile computer laboratory with 21 computer units. One of the biggest success of the school is the approval of the additional curricular offering of the STE program that will open the opportunity for incoming learners to enhance and hone their scientific and mathematical skills with the fast faced progress the school is experiencing. Now, the administration fervently prays for the strengths and guidance on the attainment of all these needs to help achieve the DepEd’s Mission, Vision and the desired Values.
